Radiology Manager
Job Title: Radiology Manager
Location: Cherry County Hospital
Reports To: Director of Ancillary Services
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary
The Radiology Manager provides leadership, direction, coordination, and administration of the Radiology department in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards of practice, and State and Federal laws. The role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changes in workload and schedule. Strong decision-making skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a focus on fostering a collaborative team environment are essential. The Radiology Manager works closely with physicians and technologists and performs radiographic procedures in diagnostic areas.

Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Produce high-quality diagnostic radiographic images to be interpreted by the radiologist.
- Assist physicians with fluoroscopic examinations as needed.
- Consult with physicians and radiologists on radiology procedures.
- Maintain and manage radiology images and reports, ensuring they reach the ordering physician.
- Adhere to the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation safety principles.
- Supervise and evaluate performance of radiology technologists.
- Coordinate work schedules and activities for departmental staff.
- Collaborate with nursing services to ensure efficient radiology services.
- Follow safety regulations and protocols related to radiology services.
- Ensure radiology equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
- Attend interdepartmental meetings and contribute to departmental goals.
- Assist in preparing the annual departmental budget with the Director of Ancillary Services.
- Serve as the Radiation Safety Officer.
- Assist in maintaining and improving departmental quality measures.
- Oversee the procurement, storage, and utilization of radiology supplies.
- Conduct an annual inventory in March.
- Stay updated on new radiology procedures, equipment, and methods.
- Review and update departmental policies and procedures annually.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and adhere to privacy standards.
- Comply with all corporate compliance policies and procedures.
- Follow hospital personnel policies and work closely with the Director of Ancillary Services to advance departmental objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities Required
- In-depth knowledge of radiology functions, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to operate radiology equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic understanding of overall facility workflow.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, radiologists, cardiologists, patients, and staff.
- Strong independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Willingness to take call during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA, and commitment to complying with all privacy and security requirements for protected health information.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited radiology program and ARRT certification.
- Active license in the state of Nebraska.
- 1-2 years of experience as a staff technologist preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to transport patients using wheelchairs and gurneys.
- Must be able to safely complete patient transfers in and out of wheelchairs and on and off gurneys.
- Ability to push portable x-ray and EKG machines.
- Requires the use of arms, legs, back, and eyes, which may lead to strain.
- Regular exposure to hazardous materials, such as contaminated body fluids, radiological solutions, and radiation.
- Must comply with universal precautions and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
