Job Advertisement: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Cherry County Clinic
Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Certified Location: Cherry County Clinic, Valentine NE
Cherry County Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. This position requires providing exceptional patient care under the direction of professional nurses within the scope of your education, training, and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, providing, and evaluating patient care.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and revising nursing care plans.
- Aid in patient teaching, discharge planning, and rehabilitation per patient care plan.
- Observe, report, and record patients' general physical and emotional signs and symptoms.
- Administer medications (oral, injections, IV) following initial dose guidelines.
- Perform venipuncture on non-pediatric patients, start select IV fluids, assist with blood transfusions.
- Conduct nursing functions such as baths, vitals, dressing changes, specimen collection, and care for pre/postoperative patients.
- Evaluate staff performance and assist with training new personnel.
- Participate in at least 50% of yearly continuing education.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Observe, report, and record IV therapy responses, including site conditions.
- Reinsert, convert, and flush peripheral, intermittent infusion devices on pediatric patients.
- Insert non-stylet guided nasogastric tubes.
- Maintain a clean and tidy nursing unit.
- Assist with admission paperwork and other administrative duties.
- Utilize intercom and telephone systems effectively.
- Support Quality Assurance chart reviews.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to Corporate Compliance policies.
- Follow Cherry County Hospital personnel policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of disease processes and appropriate nursing care.
- Proficiency in sterile techniques and procedures.
- Understanding of medication administration and reactions.
- Effective communication skills and knowledge of proper communication channels.
- Awareness of legal aspects of nursing.
- Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying updated with nursing trends.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and work well with others.
- Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Completion of at least one year of formal nursing education in a practical nursing program.
- Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of Nebraska.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Physically and emotionally demanding role involving lifting and positioning patients.
- Working in close proximity with others in a clean, favorable environment.
- Physical demands include long periods of sitting, standing, and bending as needed.
- Regular working hours with potential for overtime.
- Dexterity needed for operating equipment, telephone, and intercom systems.
- Repetitive use of hands, arms, and eyes.
- Agile movement around patients and equipment.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials such as contaminated body fluids.
- Knowledge and compliance with universal precautions and hospital policies.
