Nursing Service

Cherry County Hospital (CCH) employs a diverse range of nursing staff to deliver medical care, surgical care, and various additional nursing services. All nursing care is provided in coordination with your healthcare provider. Below is a list of the different types of nurses and the specialized nursing services offered at CCH.

Nursing Designations:

The nursing service at CCH employs a variety of nursing staff. Each staff member wears a name tag indicating their title, which may include the following:
CRNA: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
APRN: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
RN: Registered Nurse
LPN/LPNC: Licensed Practical Nurse/Certified Licensed Practical Nurse
NA/CNA: Nursing Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant
Ward Clerk

During employment at CCH, nursing service members working on the floor are required to complete the designated courses:

BLS: Basic Life Support (all nursing service)
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (RN/LPN)
NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (RN/LPN)
TNCC: Trauma Nursing Care Course (RN)
PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (RN/LPN)

Skilled Care/Swing Bed Services:

Skilled Care, commonly known as Swing Bed Care, is available for patients who no longer require Acute Care but still need IV treatments, Physical Therapy, or other qualifying skilled services. Medicare has specific criteria for eligibility for Skilled Care services, and several other insurance companies may require pre-authorization. For more information about these services, please call 402-376-2525 and ask for our Swing Bed Coordinator.

Outpatient Care:

Nursing services offer care for patients on a daily, weekly, monthly, or as-needed basis, as prescribed by your primary care provider. These services may include dressing changes, catheter care, IV antibiotic administration, injections, and more. Appointments are scheduled according to your provider's instructions and are available through the nursing team at CCH. Please note that treatments may require approval from your insurance company. Chemotherapy:

Chemotherapy services are available at Cherry County Hospital (CCH) in collaboration with our Oncology Clinic and a visiting Oncologist from North Platte, NE. Typically, patients receive their initial chemotherapy treatment at their oncologist’s facility, followed by subsequent treatments here at CCH.
